Our Family Visits the Burger Ranch in Tacoma
In our family’s quest to find great burgers in Tacoma we decided to try out the Burger Ranch which is located right across the street from Jubilee on South 38th Street in Tacoma, Washington. The restaurant was established in 1966 and has been serving Tacoma for over 50 years. To be in business that long the Burger Barn must be doing something right.
The Burger Ranch is another mom and pop type establishment that is dated with older seating and tables that I would guess are from the 70’s era (maybe even 1966). The dated seating only adds to the charm of the restaurant as a whole. The restaurant is clean and kept up.
There is an old jukebox in the dining area and I am not sure if it is operational. Another interesting thing I saw was an old camera in the ordering area. I tried to look up the camera to find some history about it but was unable to locate any information on my quick search.
The Burger Ranch has a variety of different burgers as one would expect. They also sell corn dogs and burritos.
I believe what makes this restaurant different from others is that they sell fried zucchini and fried mushrooms. This isn’t something I have come across very often and was really excited to see that they sold both of these.
During our visit we ordered fried zucchini as it was something my wife had never had the pleasure of eating before. She and I both enjoyed it very much and would gladly order it again though we will likely also be trying the fried mushrooms on our next visit.
Here is what we ordered on our visit to the Burger Ranch:
- Plain Cheese Burger – $2.08
- Bonanza Burger- $3.99
- Fries (x2) – $5.38
- Big Bacon Combo (Bacon Cheese Burger, Fries) – $9.49
- Double Cheese Burger – $4.99
- 4 Milk Shakes (3 Chocolate, 1 Strawberry) – $11.96
- Fried Zucchini- $3.79
Total After Tax- $45.89
Everyone really enjoyed their burgers and honestly the burgers really exceeded all of our expectations.
The Big Bacon Burger is a decent size burger with good flavor and fresh ingredients. This burger made my top five burgers I have eaten in Tacoma since searching out great burgers in the area.
As previously stated we ordered 3 chocolate shakes and 1 strawberry shake. We all tried the strawberry shake and decided that it was one of the best strawberry shakes we had tasted and it will surely be ranked high when we put together our list of top shakes in Tacoma.
The chocolate shakes were good as well. They use chocolate syrup for their shakes and if you put your straw at the bottom of the cup you will get a burst of chocolate from the extra syrup at the bottom which is like an extra treat within the shake itself.
If you make your way over to the Burger Ranch I hope you enjoy your experience like we did. Let me know your thoughts about the restaurant in the comments below.
