How did I not know about this burger joint until 2017? It was only because I did some work as an Uber Eats driver did I come across Jubilee and other burger restaurants. And since I had cravings for hamburgers recently I had to bring the family to try it out. So this is my impressions and the Jubilee in Tacoma review.
Located on 38th Street in Tacoma across from the Burger Ranch, Jubilee is serving great burgers, fries and shakes to the Tacoma community and has done so for many years.
Even though I live in Tacoma I had never heard of Jubilee because I just don’t explore the area were Jubilee is located very often. After eating at Jubilee and sharing our positive experience with others it seemed as though we were very much out of the Jubilee loop. Everyone knew of Jubilee already and others wondered why we hadn’t heard about it sooner.
Like many burger spots in Tacoma that have been around for awhile Jubilee in Tacoma doesn’t seem to have been updated with any fancy decor. There are booths along the window facing the main road and a long bench in the center of the dining area that seats quite a few people.
The staff is very pleasant and friendly and happy to help customers.
We ordered at the counter and all ordered cheese burgers, fries and shakes.
The wait time was relatively short when it came to how long it took for our food and shakes to be ready.
The Jubilee Cheeseburger
The cheese burgers are best described as medium size with small paddies. The cheese burgers have a secret sauce along with American cheese perfectly melted on the burger with small sauteed diced onions.
There are only a few burger restaurants that I am aware of that sever the smaller paddies.I am not picky about the size of the burger itself as long as the burger is good.
I would refer to the photos as to what you can expect from a cheeseburger. With that being said Jubilee’s cheeseburgers (as I write this) is one of best cheeseburgers we have had in Tacoma.
The menu isn’t huge at this restaurant and I think that is a good thing. It allows for Jubilee to focus and be good at what they do.
I recently at a In-N-Out Burger and Jubilee’s cheeseburgers reminded me very much of the In-N-Out Burger cheeseburgers.
The Jubilee fries are crinkle cut cries. They come in a little basket separate from the burgers. They are tasty but nothing particularly special about them but they do have good seasoning on them. My wife suspects they use Johnny’s type of seasoning.
The Jubilee shakes have made it to the top of Tacoma’s best shake in our opinion. My family believes their chocolate shake is one of the best shakes though I have a favorite chocolate shake at another restaurant nearby. They also have the best whip cream topping on their shakes.
Jubilee also makes a pretty good banana shake.
As for the strawberry shake, the family does agree that the Jubilee strawberry shake is one of the best in Tacoma.
Regardless of my personal preferences I don’t believe anyone would be disappointed by their chocolate shake or any of their shakes for that matter. Shakes don’t just have to be ordered in the summer. They taste pretty good in the winter as well.
Our overall experience on several visits to Jubilee has always been good. The prices are affordable and everything tastes great. They will make the future list of best burger locations in Tacoma for sure.
Jubilee also sells the following:
- Hot Dog – $1.75
- Chili Bowl – $2.00 and $3.00 (depending on size)
- Coffee – $1.00
- Espresso – $2.00, $3.00, $4.00 (depending on size)
- Ice Cream Cone $1.00 and $2.00 (Vanilla, chocolate and swirl)
- The Smitty (what they use to be known for) (1/3lb patty with cheese served on a hoagie roll)
